I read about Arthur Goodlett, I discovered his life story and what it was like growing up a different race thn everyone else.He was born the seventh child of ten. At a very early age he was forced to quit school to help his father bring food to the table. When he satrted working at a packing company he was one of six african americans working there. He earned a very small salary. When he was asked about his occupations and accomplishments, with dates. His response was “At the present time Mr. Goodlett is foreman of Sanitation at the Cudahy packing company in Omaha. He has held this position for the past ten years. Prior to this appointment he worked in the laundry at Cudahy's as assistant boss.” My impresion of this interview is that it just showes how unfair and cruel America was back in the 1930’s. It was very unfair that Arthur had to drop-out of school to support his family. Think that this was unfair because he was deprived of an education because his father could not support his family because a black man’s pay was lower than a white man.

I think this picture best represents the Great Depression because it showes how poor people relly were. It is a shanty made out of scraap parts that many people hd to stay in. That is why i think it best represents the Great Depression because it showed how terrible living conditions are.
